Dear Ailing Brother or Sister,

* Did you perform Ruqyah (Recitation of the Quran and Adhkar from the Sunnah) on yourself before coming to the doctor, [Allah] The Exalted said,“And We send down from the Qur’ân that which is a healing and a mercy to those who believe (in Islâmic Monotheism and act on it).” (Al-Isra 17:82)

* Remember that the doctor is not able to bring for you anything from the good health except by the permission of Allah, The Exalted said, “And you will not, unless (it be) that Allâh wills, the Lord of the ‘Alamîn (mankind, jinns and all that exists).” (At-Takwir 81:29)

* Remember that the Healer is Allah and the doctor is only a mean, The Exalted said, “‘And when I am ill, it is He who cures me.'” (Ash-Shu’ara 26:80)

* Seek the treatment, The Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhe wa sallam said, “Indeed Allah’ajja wa zallah didn’t send down an illness except that He sent down for it the cure, whoever knows it, knows it, and whoever is ignorant of it is ignorant of it.” [Reported it Imam Ahmed]

* Remember that the supplication is a mean for repeling of the illness, The Exalted said, “And your Lord said: “Invoke Me, [i.e. believe in My Oneness (Islâmic Monotheism)] (and ask Me for anything) I will respond to your (invocation).” (Ghafir 40:60)

* Remember that the charity is the mean of curing, He sallallahu alayhe wa sallam said, “Treat your patients with the charity.” [Reported it Imam Abu Dawud]

* Remember the fruit of patience on the illness, He sallallahu alayhe wa sallam said, “Strange is the affair of the Mu’min (the believer), verily all his affairs are good for him. If something pleasing befalls him he thanks (Allah) and it becomes better for him. And if something harmful befalls him he is patient (Saabir) and it becomes better for him. And this is only for the Mu’mmin.” [Reported it Imam Muslim]

* Remember His saying, sallallahu alayhe wa sallam, “Whenever a Muslim is afflicted by harm from sickness or other matters, Allah will drop his sins because of that, like the tree drops its leaves.” [Reported it Imam Bukharee]

* We ask Allah by His beautiful Names and His Exalted Attributes to cure our patients and the patients of Muslims, Indeed He Hears and responds.
